Our Bishop

Born in the State of Arkansas, Bishop Gary Clowers heard the voice of God at the tender age of 4 or 5 years old say to him, "What would you say if I told you I wanted you to preach?" And the voice of innocence answered, "I would say, "okay", I will preach."

Being raised in a Pentecostal church, the journey began. Bishop Clowers would experience times as a young child of an anointing to deliver the Word and would go out in his back yard and preach to the trees.  Even then, the enemy tried to snuff out the flame when the doctors declared a disease was going to take his young life.  "But God!!! You said you wanted me to preach and i haven't done that yet, " declared the young Gary Clowers, "I WILL LIVE AND NOT DIE!!!"  Yes, God had a plan, and the plan was to raise him up FOR SUCH A TIME AS THIS!

In the meantime, there was a young lady that was being fashioned with strength and inner beauty to stand by his side. Born in the state of Louisiana (a real southern girl), Lydia was being prepared to be the wife of that young preacher. Her family, finding their way to the state of Arkansas by the providence of God, Gary and Lydia became high school sweethearts and were married in August, 1971.

In their early years of marriage and ministry they were based in a church in Oklahoma, but traveled evangelistically and prophetically carrying a message of grace and liberty to churches in bondage all over this United States.  In the meantime, God was growing their family and blessed their lives with two sons, Gary Jr. and Danny.  It was during these years that God directed his path to Fremont, Ohio. Invited for a New Year's Eve service in 1978, a move of God began and the meeting continued on for weeks. The bond that could not be broken with a people in the city of Fremont was supernaturally created and they moved here in 1979.

Even though he left for a season to pastor other churches in Indiana, God presented another question, "What would you say if I asked you to go pastor in Fremont, Ohio again?"  The first answer would be "Get thee behind me, Satan" but that tender heart that was turned toward God inwardly said, "If that is what you want me to do, I will go to Fremont."  The rest is history.  In April, 1994, Gary and Lydia Clowers returned to Fremont and began with a meeting at the same motel where he came for dinner on that New Year's Eve in 1978. Beginning with just a few people, Family Worship Center Ministries, Inc. was born.

God has given to this man a "present truth" message that has been birthed in his spirit.  Seeking the face of God and through much chaos and inner turmoil, as God began to bring revelation and order to his life.

They have a congregation of people who desire God's best for their lives and are working toward covenant relationship with each other. God has fgven them a staff of people who support them, lift up their arms, and together they are building a ministry for people to come and find Jesus as their personal Savior and Friend; a Restorer of broken hearts, a Healer of the sick; and a place of refuge for the displaced.  In 2000, the Apostolic calling birthed within Bishop Clowers presently has him overseeing both nationally and internationally forty-five churches and their pastors who are Sons in the faith affliated with FWCMI.  He brings a strong prophetic impartation of the Word along with a lifestyle character of integrity and transparency to the church.

Bishop Gary Clowers is ordained as a Bishop through Covenant Fellowship of Churches and Ministries International, Inc. and is also apart of The International Communion of Charismatic Churches in Cedartown, Georgia. He also serves on the College of Bishops of The Fellowship of Vineyard Harvester Churches.
